Who can help a Monkey climb the Shard for Comic Relief?

19 Feb 2015

Big Bang Promotions recently teamed up with Comic Relief to help create Monkey’s Monumental Challenge.  Monkey, the PG Tips mascot and the most beloved simian in Britain, scaled the Shard unassisted and with no thought as to his own safety in an effort to raise money for this year’s Comic Relief appeal.  This was a gruelling rope climb up the last section of Britain’s tallest building; a daring feat requiring courage, determination and thorough preparation.  The perfect job for the Big Bang Event Management Team.

As Monkey bravely scaled the heights there was of course an appropriately large number of camera operators to capture our hero’s ascent from every angle and support teams in place to handle every eventuality.  Amongst these was a member of the Big Bang Promotions team with the required knowledge and experience to ensure the safety of each of these brave souls as they perched precariously wherever the best shots of our nations champion could be found.

No animals and/or celebrities were harmed in the making of the biggest ‘ape scales building’ event since King Kong and the day was a roaring success, here’s hoping for a massive amount of donations for Comic Relief this year!

This is not the first time that we have worked with the Event Safety Advisors involved with this project or with Comic Relief.   Big Bang also managed Freddie Flintoff’s reverse bungee world record attempt at Wembley for Sport Relief in 2012, and we look forward to being called in to action for this amazing cause again soon!

In a busy couple of weeks of publicity stunt work our team have also just had an amazing day out in London with Zoe Ball working on a top secret project!  More news on that in the next few weeks…
